She’s The One by Erin Nicholas: Review

June 28, 2013 Reviews 0

She's The OneSometimes you see love clearly. And sometimes it has to smack you in the face.

When a stranger walks up and punches him, Ryan Kaye assumes there’s a good reason. But he’s stunned to learn it’s over a one-night stand that never happened —with his friend’s sister, straight-laced Amanda Dixon. When Ryan confronts her about the lie, Amanda apologizes, but Ryan realizes he doesn’t want her to be sorry…he wants the night they supposedly spent together.

Amanda’s not looking to add anyone to her long list of commitments, so she was only trying to let a nice guy down easy by telling him a fling with Ryan broke her heart. So what if the fling only happened in her dreams? But when Ryan Kaye tempts her with the chance to go crazy and fulfill a few fantasies, she can’t resist. Thank goodness one night isn’t enough time to fall in love…

Warning: Contains a hot paramedic who knows how to get a girl to let her hair down, a girl who thinks she prefers her hair up, some naughty laser tag, some naughty role-playing and a lot of falling in love.

I first came across Erin Nicholas when I read her Bradford series. Now that was a series I loved, and when I learned that she was releasing a new series which is connected to the Bradfords, I was very excited. When I got the chance to read it earlier this month, I jumped at it.

If She’s The One is indicative of what the Counting on Love series is going to be like, this is going to be another favourite one for me. I loved it!

To give you a brief rundown on what the series is about:

What’s worse than your sister dating your best friend?
That… times four!
Just ask Conner Dixon.
His four younger sisters are falling in love with his four best friends.
What did he do to deserve this?

She’s The One is the story of Conner’s sister Amanda. She’s the sensible one, the one that has always been in charge. When she is dared by one sister, Olivia to think like their more fun-loving sister, Emma, she makes a slip of the tongue that backfires on her in a big way. Because of what she says, Ryan (a colleague and friend of Conner’s) is greeted by the hard end of a jealous man’s fist. When it comes out that Amanda has told this guy that she had a one-nighter with Ryan, he decides that instead of getting her apology, he wants the one-night stand.

Ryan’s background has been nothing like Amanda’s. His mother, a free spirit, brought him up to believe that love was fluid and not forever. He lives well, having fun and leaving when the initial flush of lust wears off. So you would think he is the perfect man to help Amanda discover her inner dirty-girl, which he is – but boy, does he turn out to be so much more than that!

Like all of the previous books of Ms Nicholas that I have read, this couple is HOT! Together, they create a really formidable chemistry and balance out each other really well. The massage – OMG! When you read that bit, you will know what I am talking about. I really enjoyed watching these two work towards their happy ending.

It was great to catch up with some of my favourites too, like Sam, Mac, Dooley and Kevin. This has always been a big thing in these books – the strength of all of the characters is fantastic. They’re human, flawed, laugh-out-loud funny and great fun to revisit.

There is just some kind of highly addictive book crack that Erin Nicholas dusts over her books that makes you want to devour them all in a single sitting. I am really looking forward to the next instalment, It Takes Two – Isabelle and Shane’s story. Now to wait until September.

My rating: 4.5 out of 5
