"It's not you."

There are only so many times a girl can hear those words before she believes that it is, in fact, very much her. Unexpectedly jilted by her locally famous boyfriend and haunted by a boss who makes Attila the Hun look like a lap dog, Bellamy Blake does what any self-respecting girl in her shoes would do. She rounds up her two best girlfriends and makes plans to get the hell out of Dodge.

But Bellamy's escape plan takes a nose dive on the side of rural route 164 when her transmission self-destructs, leaving her in the middle of a cell phone dead zone with nothing but her wits. Oh, and Shane Griffin, the hottest mechanic who's ever checked under her hood.

Yet this small-town man isn't all he seems. Can Shane and Bellamy prove that sometimes the most unlikely ingredients make the most deliciously sexy mix?

My Written Romance is the next stop on the book tour for Turn Up the Heat, the first book in the Pine Mountain series. I first heard about Kimberly when I got the chance to review the novella she wrote for the Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap. That novella was a taster for this series, and I absolutely jumped at the chance to read Turn Up the Heat.

As part of the tour, Kimberly is sponsoring a fantastic giveaway. Check it out at the bottom of the page.

Here’s what I thought of Turn Up the Heat:

Being dumped is bad enough, but when you find out that your relationship is over by way of your boyfriend announcing on TV he is moving interstate, that’s got to sting a little. However, every cloud has a silver lining – Bellamy and her friends end up taking an impromptu road trip to exorcise the demons of the ex-boyfriend and start her life anew.

The chemistry between Bellamy and Shane was really well-done and definitely helped in patches where the plot felt a little slow-moving. I loved that they didn’t hook up immediately upon laying eyes on each other, and even though the relationship did move reasonably quickly, it felt natural.

I loved Bellamy and Shane as characters as well. Bellamy is a wonderful, smart heroine – and her love for food was most definitely a thing I can relate to. Shane may have been a bit of a mystery man, and it probably would have been better if he had been the one to reveal his past, however it does make sense when you learn why he’s kept that secret.

I really enjoyed the first visit I took to Pine Mountain in Kimberly Kincaid’s novella Sugar and Spice, and I have been looking forward to Turn Up the Heat as a result. It was a real joy to read – and a wonderful start to a series I just know I am going to follow to the end.

Let’s find out about Kimberly Kincaid.

Kimberly KincaidKimberly Kincaid writes contemporary romance that splits the difference between sexy and sweet. When she’s not sitting cross-legged in an ancient desk chair known as “The Pleather Bomber”, she can be found practicing obscene amounts of yoga, whipping up anything from enchiladas to éclairs in her kitchen, or curled up with her nose in a book. Kimberly is a 2011 RWA Golden Heart® finalist who lives (and writes!) by the mantra that food is love. She has written two digital novellas, Love On The Line and Drawing The Line, about hot cops and sexy chefs, with a third novella, Outside The Lines, due this summer. She is also thrilled to have collaborated on a Christmas anthology with Donna Kauffman and Kate Angell, titled The Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap, to kick off her Pine Mountain foodie series with Kensington this October. Kimberly’s first full-length novel, Turn Up the Heat, will follow in February 2014. She resides in northern Virginia with her wildly patient husband and their three daughters.
