Hey there, Friday! Most importantly, hey there, my lovely readers!

It’s been far too long since I did a Favourite Things Friday, and what better day to kick it all back out than Halloween!

I’m packing my tiny overlord off to daycare today, dressed as a ballerina, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be doling out candy to other people’s children all night!

In today’s instalment of Favourite Things Friday, there is old school awesome, delicious beverages, fabulous music and well…..you’ll see.

Old-School Ads

There are your classic ad campaigns – iconic, well-targeted and lingering in your memory long after you’ve seen them…..

…..and then you have the ones that, upon reflection, make you think “Oh, dear…”. These ones are my favourites! From the bizarre and potentially dangerous beauty products, to highly questionable fashion choices, I have a total sick weakness for these babies.

Here are just a few of my favourites:

I have a whole Pinterest board devoted to my love of the vintage advertisement. Click here to check it out.

Hot Chocolate

Brioche! No, not the 1970s disco band, but the delicious warm beverage!

While I still love the aroma of coffee and I have spent many a happy moment in its warm, glowing, warming glow, I have to admit I just can’t drink it any more (sorry, Sandra!!). I gave up coffee when I was pregnant with my daughter, and never got back into the groove of drinking it.

I switched to drinking hot chocolate, and quickly developed a deep and abiding love for it! I am a little picky with my hot chocolate, as I was with my coffee, and I am always on the lookout for the perfect one.

The winner in my search so far is the Mörk dark hot chocolate from Brioche by Philip on Little Collins Street, not far from my work in Melbourne’s CBD…..so so good.

If you know of a better one, let me know. I shall dance a jig in your honour!

Zoe Keating and her magnificent cello

I have the fabulous Mel Scott to thank for introducing me to this incredible artist. I was on the lookout, recently, for some new music to write to, and Mel suggested I check out Zoe Keating.

It is cello music unlike any you may expect to hear.

Just watch this video and you will see why her albums are on high rotation on my Spotify player!

It’s Like They Know Us!

This has got to be my favourite Tumblr page. Anyone who has parented a small human will know how some stock photos portray parenthood in a way that makes you shake you head in disbelief or laugh hysterically.

This is a Halloween post from It’s Like They Know Us in honour of the day!

I forget how fun these activities are each year! Everyone is a great listener as I explain how to clean the pumpkin and be safe with knives. They don’t say, "I KNOW, MOM, I KNOW" and then indiscriminately hack and stab at the pumpkin while making the noise from "Psycho" until they eventually lose interest and wander off to torture each other with pumpkin guts.
