Summer in Montana brings heat with a chance of romance in the new Medicine River Romance from the award-winning author of Montana Actually

Sexy and charming Australian doctor Will Bartlett will do anything to help out a friend, even if it means moving to Bear Paw for the summer. Some small-town hospitality, and the uncomplicated friendship of his co-worker, Millie, is just the ticket to shake off the restlessness that’s been gripping him lately.

Millie Switkowski, RN and medical student, is home for her clinical rotation, and she’s determined to make this summer so much better than last. She’s got a year of medical school under her belt, her diabetes is under control and she’s kicked her crazy crush for Will Bartlett, who only ever treated her as “one of the guys.”

But when Will turns out to be Millie’s supervising physician, without warning the summer gets a whole lot hotter than either of them anticipated. With both of them holding onto thorny secrets, can they walk away with their hearts intact?

So, a very big apology from me to the author, Fiona Lowe, and the tour hosts at Tasty Book Tours for any inconvenience caused.

I read Truly Madly Montana back in May, and have been sitting on my review waiting for just the right time to tell you all how much I loved it! Never fear, dear readers! That time is now.

The Medicine River series kicked off beautifully with Montana Actually, and stays perfectly on the awesome track with Truly Madly Montana.

Here are my thoughts on Truly Madly Montana:

Gosh, I loved reading about Millie and Will. They are a really fun couple to get to know, and watching them navigate their path to happiness through misunderstandings and secrets is very cool indeed.

The thing I loved about Millie was that despite her condition, she still embraces life. She is aware, she’s committed to following her dreams and she isn’t all hung up on trying to be someone else – even if it does mean people treat her as just one of the guys. Will has his secrets, but I can understand why he keeps them as he does. I love that he has concern for Millie, even if he goes a touch overboard with that at times. There is a lovely, natural chemistry between Millie and Will, and I definitely found myself willing (pardon the pun) them on to make it.

As there always is in Fiona’s books, Truly Madly Montana has some pretty funny moments. The initial misunderstanding that leads Will to think that Millie is ‘batting for the other side’, and the ensuing hijinks, cracked me up. I also really, really love how the other characters and the setting are woven throughout the story, and there is a very lovely secondary romance that takes place – that may or may not begin with one arresting the other 😉

Indulge me a bit for a second: It’s not often that I’ve read about Type 1 diabetics in romance fiction, and even less frequent is a heroine with this condition. I knew there was a T1D character in the works, so I was very keen to see how this would be addressed in Truly Madly Montana. Why? Like Millie, my own hero (Tall Man) is a Type 1 diabetic, as are two of our friends. Fiona Lowe, as I told you when I first read this, you got it just right. The day-to-day aspects of dealing with a chronic illness, the emotions, the well-intentioned but often suffocating concern of loved ones – all very much hit the mark for me. So, big yay for that!

Truly Madly Montana is fun, romantic, emotional and packed full of wonderful, vibrant characters. Another big winner from Fiona Lowe – I can’t wait to see who’s up next to fall in love in Bear Paw!
